OPzV batteries are designed with a colloidal electrolyte and a positive tubular plate.  At the same time, it has the advantages of a valve-regulated battery (maintenance-free) and open battery (floating charge/cycle life), etc., especially suitable for using backup equipment for 1 to 20 hours. Since it is not limited by the use environment or maintenance conditions, the OPzV series is ideal for environments with significant temperature differences and unstable power grids or renewable energy storage systems that have been in an electrical state for a long time. Colloids are formed from silicon particles with small volumes but extensive surface areas. A three-dimensional chain network is created as a result of the dispersion of silicon particles in the electrolyte, and a microporous system with a diameter of 0.1 to 1 mm is the result. Contained by a solid capillary phenomenon, the electrolyte is locked in the microporous system. There won’t be any electrolyte leaking as a result, even if the battery casing is accidently ruptured. A small number of micropores are not filled by the electrolyte, creating voids for oxygen to pass through. Oxygen migrates from the positive electrode to the negative electrode and recombines into the water, thus eliminating the need for regular water additions. Colloidal technology completely changes the backup power supply concept, allowing users more autonomy in different fields. With negligible battery gas production, batteries can be installed in cabinets, racks, in offices, or next to the equipment. Improves space utilization and reduces installation and maintenance costs.

What are the main features of the OPzV tubular gel battery?

The name for this kind of battery is abbreviated OPzV, which is German in origin. OPzV is composed of O-Ortsfest, PZ-PanZerplatte, V-Verschlossen.

Based on the definition of OPzV battery, it is concluded that the OPzV colloidal battery must have the following characteristics to become an OPZV tubular colloidal battery in the true sense.

1. Life: The designed floating life of this type of battery is more than 20 years. Excellent cycle performance and deep discharge recovery ability, 80% DOD cycle life of more than 1500 times

2. Positive plate: The positive plate is mainly composed of 3 parts, grid, casing, and active material. The shape of the electrode plate is a tubular electrode plate.

3. Negative plate: The negative plate is mainly composed of two parts, grid, and active material. The shape of the plate is a flat plate

4. Electrolyte: The electrolyte is mainly composed of 2 parts, sulfuric acid, and silica gel

5. Battery case: The battery case usually uses flame retardant ABS

6. Terminals: Copper terminals are used to enhance conductivity.

7. Large heat capacity, good heat resistance, suitable for harsh environments

8. Tubular colloid plate

Tubular positive plates and fumed gelled electrolytes are the key features of the JYC OPzV battery. Performances are in line with or even surpass the requirements outlined in DIN 40742, with a long design life and exceptional deep cycling capabilities.
