Car Battery

The battery is the power supply of the car. It is mainly used to supply power to the car starter and various electrical equipment when starting. It belongs to the starting automotive battery. At present, lead-acid batteries are basically used in automobiles, that is, dilute sulfuric acid is used as the electrolyte, and the active substances on the plates participating in the electrochemical reaction are lead dioxide and lead.

In order to meet the needs of starting and electrical equipment, when replacing a new battery, the capacity and rating of the new battery must not be lower than the original battery, and the size of the replaced battery must also be properly installed. There are many brands of batteries on the market, mainly JYC Battery, VARTA, Panasonic, GS and so on. Batteries produced by various manufacturers also have different labels.
The models of lead-acid batteries for automobiles are named according to certain standards, such as Japanese standards, German standards and American standards.

Japan JIS Standard Automotive Battery

In 1979, the Japanese standard battery model was represented by the N of Nippon in Japan, and the following number was the size of the battery slot, which was expressed close to the rated capacity of the battery, such as NS40ZL:

  1. N means Japanese JIS standard;
  2. S means miniaturization, that is, the actual capacity is smaller than 40 Ah, which is 36Ah;
  3. Z means that it has better starting and discharging performance under the same size, and S means that the pole terminal is thicker than that of the battery with the same capacit.
    Note: In general, the positive and negative poles of the battery have different diameters to avoid reverse polarity of the battery.
  4. L means the positive pole is at the left end, R means the positive pole is at the right end.

Germany DIN Standard Automotive Battery

Take the battery model 544 34 as an example, the description is as follows:

  1. The beginning 5 indicates that the rated capacity of the battery is below 100Ah;
    The beginning 6 indicates that the battery capacity is between 100Ah and 200Ah;
    The beginning 7 indicates that the rated capacity of the battery is above 200Ah.
    For example, the rated capacity of the 544 34 battery is 44Ah;
  2. The two digits after the capacity indicate the size and group number of the battery.
    3.MF means maintenance-free type.

US BCI Standard Automotive Battery

Take the battery model 58 430 (12V 430A 80min) as an example, the description is as follows:

  1. 58 indicates the battery size group number.
  2. 430 means the cold start current is 430A.
  3. 80min means the storage capacity of the battery is 80min.
  4. American standard batteries can also be expressed in this way: 78-600, 78 indicates the battery size group number, 600 indicates the cold start current is 600A.

In the maintenance of the car, the maintenance of the battery is also very important. If you develop bad habits, the service life of the battery will be shortened or it will be damaged. The battery life is generally 2 to 3 years. If the user installs some electrical appliances that did not exist before, such as a subwoofer, etc., it will cause excessive use of the battery.

Nowadays, there are more and more electric devices on cars, so when car owners use these electric devices, try not to overload the battery. Taking power windows and sunroofs as an example, car owners should complete their lifting and closing before the engine is turned off. Because if the engine is turned off, the power generation will stop, and then raising and lowering the window will increase the load on the battery, which is likely to cause damage to the battery.

The same is true for car lights. If you want to turn off the fire, there is no special need. You should turn off the headlights first, and then turn off the lights. When starting the car at night, you should start the car first and then turn on the headlights. Minimize damage to the battery. If you let the battery work when the engine is stopped, be sure to prevent the battery from losing power, because it is easy to cause damage to the battery if it loses power. If the power loss is serious, the battery will be scrapped in advance.
