1、How to determine the battery installation method? Why is it preferable to place high type batteries in a horizontal position and low type batteries in a vertical position?

After a long period of time, the sulphuric acid density of the upper layer becomes thinner and that of the lower layer becomes denser, thus forming a dense differential microcell, which leads to serious self-discharge and shortens the service life of the battery.
Batteries of high design should be installed horizontally to avoid electrolyte stratification in the process of use. When installing the battery, the main consideration is the installation area and the ground load-bearing capacity.
Users can choose two, four or eight layer installation methods according to the battery placement area. If the ground bearing capacity allows, choosing four or eight layer installation method can save floor space, this method is more suitable for battery placement on the ground floor or basement, for sufficient area but the ground bearing capacity is poor, it is appropriate to use two layer installation method.
Low-profile batteries have much less potential for electrolyte stratification and the use of vertical placement will effectively reduce the potential for battery leakage, so short batteries should be placed in a firm position.

A. Battery Installation Area
The battery installation should allow space for installation, maintenance and testing access according to the actual situation.
B. Floor load bearing
Select the appropriate number of storeys and placement according to the load-bearing requirements of the building design.
C. Wiring Way
There are two ways of wire at one end and wire at both ends to choose from.
D. Appearance options
The customer can choose different battery racks for installation from the actual requirements.

Whether installing or maintaining, it is important to understand and prevent the following potential risks that can occur

  • Electrical injury: short-circuiting of the positive and negative terminals; reversal of positive and negative connections; electric shock.
  • Mechanical injury: failure of handles (pull cords) during handling.
  • Chemical injury: battery leakage.
2、What items should be checked frequently during the operation and maintenance of the battery?

(1) The total voltage of the battery, charging current and the float voltage of each battery.
(2) The battery connection strip for looseness and corrosion.
(3) The battery casing for leakage and deformation.
(4) Whether there is acid mist overflowing from the battery poles and around the safety valve.

3、Newly installed battery, some pressure difference is larger, will affect the use?

Newly installed batteries, after a certain period of float charging operation, the float charging voltage will tend to be uniform, because the saturation of sulphuric acid is higher when just used, the gas compound efficiency is poor, the saturation will slightly decrease after operation, and the battery float charging voltage will be uniform.

4、What are the causes of uneven battery voltage during long-term float operation?

The current VRLA battery suffers from uneven float charging voltages due to the accumulation of errors in the quality, quantity and content of the accessories and materials used in the various stages of battery production. In particular, VRLA batteries are designed to be depleted of liquid and the errors will affect the sulphuric acid saturation within the battery, which directly affects the recombination of oxygen when the battery is floated, resulting in different overpotentials and different float voltages for the battery during float charging. The current VRLA battery suffers from uneven float voltage, which is caused by the accumulation of errors in the quality, quantity and content of the accessories and materials used in the various stages of battery production, and especially in the float charging process. Because of the poor oxygen compounding efficiency of batteries with high sulphuric acid saturation, the saturation level drops slightly and the float voltage of the battery tends to be uniform.Because of the poor oxygen compounding efficiency of batteries with high sulphuric acid saturation, the saturation level drops slightly and the float voltage of the battery tends to be uniform.
In addition, there is a large voltage drop across the connecting strip of the battery series; poor contact between the poles and the connecting strip; unevenness may exist in new batteries within three to six months of operation.

5、How to judge the lagging battery when the battery is running on float charge?

If the end voltage is the lowest in three consecutive discharge cycles, it can be judged as a lagging battery in the group, and the lagging battery should be charged with a balanced battery pack.
For example, for the battery in the floating state, if the floating charge voltage is lower than 2.16V should be taken seriously.

6、The battery sometimes has a slight bulge, will it affect the use of the battery?

On the one hand, manufacturers should pay attention to the opening pressure of the safety valve, so that the internal pressure of the battery is not too large, as well as the choice of suitable shell material and shell thickness; on the other hand, users should carry out normal maintenance of the battery to avoid overcharging and thermal runaway.

7、How long does it take to fully charge the battery after discharge?

The time required to fully charge the battery after discharge varies with the discharge capacity and initial charging current. If the battery is discharged at a rate of 10h and the depth of discharge is 100%, the battery can be charged for more than 100% after 24 hours by “constant voltage current limiting” and “constant current voltage limiting” charging.
