Metal lead is a kind of corrosion-resistant heavy non-ferrous metal material. Lead has the advantages of low melting point, high corrosion resistance, X-ray and γ-rays are not easily penetrated, and good plasticity. Metallic lead is often processed into sheets and pipes and is widely used in industrial sectors such as chemicals, cables, batteries and radioactive protection.
- Distribution of lead resources and reserves
The total reserves of lead resources in the world are 90 million tons, and the reserves of lead resources in Australia and China are 36 million tons and 18 million tons respectively, accounting for 40% and 20% of the total global lead resources, ranking first and second in the world. The reserves and proportions of lead resources in major countries in the world are as follows:
- Supply of lead resources
From 2016 to 2018, due to the shutdown of large overseas lead and zinc mines, the global mine lead production entered a downward cycle. In 2019, with the increasing shortage of raw materials, the lead price rebounded, which stimulated the resumption of production of global shutdown projects and the commissioning of new mine projects, which led to an increase in global lead concentrate production. In 2020, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the relevant restrictive measures have seriously affected the mining industry in many countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Peru and South Africa, and lead mine production decreased by about 5% compared with 2019. With the continuous control of the epidemic and the promotion of market demand, lead production will resume growth in the future, reaching 4.57 million tons in 2022.
From the perspective of consumption regions, the consumption of lead in Asia accounts for more than 55% of the world in recent years, among which, China basically maintains a share of more than 40%; followed by the United States, India and South Korea, accounting for 13%, 5% and 2% respectively.
JYC battery, a experienced battery manufacturer, has high-quality lead raw material suppliers, and the purity of lead in the batteries produced by JYC reaches 99.9%.
